Do you have any tips on job networking?

by admin June 25th, 2009. Filed under: Job Networking.

I’m in a high unemployment area and very few jobs are being posted in the newspaper. Any suggestions on how to successfully network for the hidden job market? Especially if I have a target company I would like to work for, but have no connections at that company?

What about if you have a person who gives you a name of someone who has the power to hire you? What is a good way to approach that person (the executive director of that company).

Linked in is a good networking site. you can use it to find out how many of your connections have relationships at the company you are targeting.
I would also get an alumni directory of the college and/or high school you graduated. chances are someone will work for the company. you can take them to breakfast and network
